Preview of 'Liberty Selects' display windows at Origin 2011
For the first time Origin has collaborated with prestigious London retailer, Liberty, who will curate five display windows.
Michelle Alger, Buying Manager - Home & Gift, has now selected the 30 beautiful pieces that will be displayed. These spectacular 'shop' windows to Origin will be situated on the exterior of its purpose-built pavilion in Old Spitalfields Market for the duration of the exhibition. Each of the five windows will identify themes within the fair - Graphic, Texture, Warm Tones, Form and Light & Dark. "The work selected was chosen on the basis of its cohesion of colour, texture and form and Liberty are very excited to be collaborating with the organisers of Origin 2011 in this way. I always enjoy attending Origin in my professional capacity as a buyer; I visit to make orders and commission work directly from the makers. Last year's inclusion of the event in the London Design Festival heralded a strong message about the desirability of contemporary craft." Michelle Alger, Buying Manager - Home & Gift Liberty.
The five Liberty Selects display windows will beautifully demonstrate the fine craft available to buy within the fair and provide an impressive scene to passers by. "We are delighted to be working with Liberty at Origin. Michelle has selected a very bold and striking set of pieces for the Liberty Selects display windows - providing passers by with a snapshot of the exciting work at the fair." Rosy Greenlees, Executive Director, Crafts Council
